「〜と思うと怖い」はI get scared thinking about ...を使って表現できます。例：I'd like to try scuba diving, but I never have because I get scared thinking that I might not be able to breathe in the middle of the ocean.「スキューバダイビングをやってみたいけど、海の真ん中で息ができなくなったらと思ったら怖いから、やったことがない。」I get scared thinking that I might not be able to breathe で「息ができないかもしれないと考えたら怖くなる」ご参考まで！
